The
English Federation Of Disability Sport ( EFDS) is the national
body responsible for developing sport for disabled people
in England. They work closely with seven national disability
sports organisations recognised by Sport England.

Cerebral Palsy Sport
British Wheelchair Sports Foundation

Sport England
EFDS developed a four year plan, to include disabled people
in six of the national priority sports. The stratgey was:
The creation of programmes for grass roots participation
by disabled people.
The delivery of a programme of championships and
events for disabled people.
The establishment of a talent identification system for
disabled players and athletes.
The establishment of regional and national training squads
for disabled players and athletes |
About
EFDS Football
|
One
of the key initiatives of EFDS was, in partnership with the
FA, the development of Ability Counts Football. The objectives
of Ability Counts is to:
Actively increase local football opportunities for disabled
people
Improve the quality of coaching available to disabled
people
Establish a competition structure
Create performance pathways to excellence
Raise
the profile, & awareness, of football for disabled people
The
number of Ability Counts Club's is increasing all the time.
This has given rise to a number of regional Ability Counts
leagues, competitions and festivals. |
