In December 2004 Manchester hosted the Partially Sighted World Championships. The England team started their campaign with an emphatic 19-2 victory against Cyprus.

A 4-2 deafeat against Ukraine meant that Enland were resigned to the playoffs and eventually finished 6th following a 5-2 deafeat to France.
