The FA's Football for Disabled People Strategy has firmly placed
the FA as the world leading governing body in the development
of disability football. The success of the strategy has seen an
explosion of opportunity through schools programmes, Ability County
and Charter Standard Clubs, regional football festivals and leagues,
through to Coaching Centres and the six England disability football
squads
Although
the strategy includes participation for all, it enables elite
performers to be guided through a "Player Pathway" to
the national teams.
There
are six international disability squads, one for each specific
impairment. These squads represent England in friendly internationals
as well as in European and World Championships.
